Sweet Hibernation

The last of October
scattering leaves
in cool autumn winds
and gladly receives
the carpet of gold
that the trees have bestowed
and sighs of contentment:
All was sown, reaped and ploughed.

All that remains
before falling asleep
under the stars
and snow shining, deep
is to thank the Creator
for the year He has planned
and trust Him to keep us
in the dreamy, white land.
